Uniform Shirts Storage

Sat, 04/21 by cmurtaugh

As we have all noticed, the shirt closet has become stuffed with uniform shirts. Volkert was nice enough to install two new racks upstairs in bedroom 2. Beginning Monday, April 23rd, we will begin putting full timer shirts upstairs on these racks. They will still be separated ALS/BLS. Volunteer, per diem, and Chief's shirts will remain in the current closet. Please separate them this way upon bringing them back to the base. -Thanks, Lt. Gibson"

Stroke Notification

Wed, 04/18 by cmurtaugh

Based on the information above and the continuous variability of protocols amongst the hospitals, my recommendation is that you notify the receiving facility for all patients having stroke-like symptoms regardless of LKW time. Let the facility decide if they are going to activate their stroke team.

Emergency Responses to NYS T-Way and Interstates

Tue, 03/27 by cmurtaugh

When responding to and from NYS T-Way for a call (MVA, Medical, etc.), please go through a lane with a teller vs the EZ Pass. The teller can allow access to the T-Way, whereas the EZ Pass lane will see it as a violation since we don’t have EZ Pass. Why not get EZ pass for all our ambulances? If you enter and exit from the same exit number, it is flagged and again you get a violation. When responding on any interstate (T-Way, 390, 490) you can and should respond with lights and siren if the... read more

ET Blade & King Airway Update

Sat, 03/17 by cmurtaugh

The manufacturer of the EquipLite laryngoscope blades is no longer making them. Rusch/Teleflex has notified BoundTree that they will no longer ship these LED disposable blades. Fortunately, Curaplex, the BoundTree house brand, now makes an LED disposable blade that is fully compatible with our equipment. They have the benefit of being more rugged and less expensive. Unfortunately they are not color-coded as the EquipLite blades were. Be alert to the change and check the blade before you... read more
